Hey there WandStars! I just wanted to re-introduce myself. I’m Brian, one of the original contributors of the Weekly Wand. Wow, 2024 will be our 6th year! How time flies. This publication has gone through a few changes, and so have I. I’m still a regular contributor with Beyond Earth but I have taken up distance crystal healing. Hi there WandStars, and welcome to 2024! This time around in Beyond Earth, I thought it might be nice to travel the world and explore some of the planet's most haunted locations! From castles and hotels to forests and temples and everything in between. Join me in a paranormal adventure! Let’s start things off close to home. Canada has its fair share of haunted locations, and one of them is smack dab in the middle of the Rocky stop, the Banff Springs Hotel. What would it be like to spend the night in a haunted hotel? Well, I’ve stayed there, and while I didn't experience anything weird, it has a bit of a creepy air. The Fairmont Banff Springs has welcomed guests for over 125 years. The Castle of the Rockies, as it’s fondly known, has seen many guests pass through its doors, some famous and some royal, but guests of another kind still walk its halls… Room 873 is perhaps the most famous. This room was reportedly the scene of a tragic family murder. Its door has since been bricked up and made to look like the other hallway wall. Guests have reported seeing apparitions outside this room, possibly members of the family that were reported to have been murdered here. Let’s not forget the Burning Bride; stories suggest a woman dressed in her wedding gown lost her life on the staircase. There were candles on the stairs when the bride walked up them. Her dress suddenly caught fire, and in a panic, she tripped and fell down the stairs, dying from a broken neck. Many people have reported seeing her ghost in a full wedding gown, often dancing in the ballroom. Guests and staff have, in some cases, witnessed the flames from her dress as she danced. Others have seen the woman on the staircase where she lost her life. Staff members have also reported strange noises from the bridal suite, even when the suite is vacant. The hotel even has a ghostly bellman. Sam Macauley is perhaps the most popular of all the Banff Springs ghosts. He was a bellman at the hotel in the 60s-70s. However, not much is known about how or where he died. His spirit is said to haunt the hotel to this day. He has been known to appear in his 1960s uniform, helping guests enter locked rooms, turn on room lights, or help with carrying bags. He’s often witnessed on the 9th floor. He will vanish if you try to start a conversation or attempt to tip him. Book a stay at the Banff Springs Hotel and see for yourself!
